The Meaning of the Gift

The gift of Christmas is salvation. When God sent His Son into the world, He gave us a way to be forgiven, restored, and renewed.

In Titus 2:11 (NIV) it says, “For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people.” That grace began in Bethlehem and reached its fulfillment on the cross. Every miracle, every act of love, and every teaching that Jesus gave flowed from that moment when He entered the world as a child.

In my home, we celebrate His birthday with joy and gratitude. We thank God for giving us His most precious treasure. The birth of Jesus was not just a beautiful story; it was the beginning of the greatest promise ever kept — a gift that will never lose its power to change lives.

Living with the Consequences Repeated covenant-breaking has serious consequences. The flipside is that covenant-keeping has positive outcomes. Notice in this passage the central importance of Torah (law) and Israel's chronic recurrent problem of slipping back into all forms of idolatry. Modern Western society is permeated to its core with idolatry, with one particular ism extending its grasp beyond any other - materialism. Unchecked materialism has so infiltrated Christianity and other religious systems that it goes virtually unnoticed by the majority. Stewards of Unity Paul is asking his readers to live together in the unity of the Spirit, to be a fellowship of believers who love, support, encourage and help one another. Author, speaker and church planter John White (1924-2002) says, 'It is not possible to exaggerate the importance of your fellowship with you fellow Christians. You need their love. You need their discipline. They need yours.' White cites the prayer of Jesus in John 17:20-23, in which Jesus prayed specifically for the unity of his followers. Jesus' reason?
